Cameron Crowe: 'Elizabethtown Definitely Created Some Thoughtful Times'
Cameron Crowe knows you didn't like 'Elizabethtown,' but his feelings aren't hurt -- everyone's entitled to their own opinion. In an interview with Vulture, the director spoke candidly about his 2005 feature film and the harsh response it received from critics and audiences alike. "'Elizabethtown' definitely created some thoughtful times, but nothing paralyzing. To me, only if something comes from an inauthentic place should you feel vulnerable to the things that anybody might say," admitted Crowe. "I stand behind it and didn't feel savaged. It was a little brutal. But I get that people want to express themselves. I express myself, too." So what's next for Crowe? After 'We Bought a Zoo,' which hits theaters Friday, the director will be doing a "straight-out comedy," but won't say more than that. And as for that 'Say Anything' sequel? Cameron has some ideas, but the possibility of making one seems rather slim. "There were many people who got upset when I said it's the one thing I would think about doing -- something more with Lloyd's character or one of the side characters," adding that the movie would be "a shadow of a previous story, but characters that you knew, sort of. And you go off on this tributary to another story with them. That's how I would do a 'Say Anything' sequel." Crowe also discusses the mixtapes he gives his actors and his plans for a Marvin Gaye biopic. You can check out the entire interview over at Vulture.
