CineEurope heads to Barcelona

BERLIN -- CineEurope, Europe's leading theatrical exhibitor trade fair, is moving from Amsterdam to Barcelona next year. Formerly known as Cinema Expo, CineEurope 2012 will take place June 18-21 at El Centro de Convenciones Internacional de Barcelona in the city's Diagonal Mar area. The International Union of Cinemas (UNIC) confab has been held in Amsterdam for the past 15 years. "The move to Barcelona represents CineEurope's dedication to better serving the European cinema exhibition and distribution communities," said CineEurope managing director Robert Sunshine. "CineEurope management and UNIC consulted with constituents and the overwhelming feedback received was that a move to Spain would be a beneficial change." Contact Ed Meza at staff@variety.com
